landscaping repairs after tree removal

Tree removal, path and wall reinstatement

August 10, 2017

Trees don’t live forever, unfortunately. Recently, we had to remove an old cherry

blossom tree with a rotten trunk.

Over the years, the roots had pushed through the garden, against a brick retaining wall. It was leaning precariously and it would only be a matter of time before the wall collapsed onto the path (which was also starting to lift.)

I removed the tree, chipped and removed all wood, and reinstated the garden. Then I relaid the path, before building a block retaining wall (cheaper and more stable than brick.)

By the start of summer it’ll be impossible to tell that the tree was ever there!
